Enjoying stunning views over Sandy Lane Golf Course to the Caribbean Sea, Cockade House was originally constructed in the 1700's as a sugar plantation home set in 2.5 acres and was part of Bennetts Plantation. Oliver Messel reconfigured the interior of the house, raised the height of the ceilings, added the verandahs, redid the facade and incorporated swimming pool. The property was then sold in the mid 1980's at which time, Barbadian architect, Michael Gomes built a private guest cottage to the south west of the property to a design left by Oliver Messel.
